Attention friends and fans of Great Mutations,
Welcome to the first installment of our monthly band newsletter!
Since we released our album Cheap Stuff last July we’ve been bunkered in our church-turned-studio, writing and recording a mass of songs, and we’re excited to bring them to you.
That’s why once a month we’ll send you our music – new songs, demos, outtakes, downright failures – along with other happenings with the band. For example, did you know that our drummer Ian recently refinanced his home?
Now you’ll never be out of the loop.
In this update we’ve got two new songs to share with you:
- A-Sharp: So named because of a minor band dispute about whether A-sharp or B-flat was the correct key signature of the song. Ian was probably right about B-flat, but Matt also had a point with, “How ‘bout you just play the drums.”
- Anti-Verses: Historically, our approach to recording has been to individually track each part, but for this one we did the bass, drums, guitar, and vocal live in the studio. Like real musicians!
